This map shows the Drummuir area as it was in 1872 and is intended to help the reader locate the various places mentioned in the Diaries. George was born in 1802 at Cachenhead and on 9th March 1835 he took over Cachenhead as its tenant farmer. In November 1843 he relinquished Cachenhead and moved to the bigger farm of Midthird where he was the tenant farmer until 26th October 1863. At that date he moved to a newly-built house at Ardgaithney where he continued to farm on a smaller scale until his death on 27th May 1885.
