These are the Minutes of Botriphnie WRI for the period June 1949 - November 1958.

June 1949
Miss Barclay presided at the monthly meeting in June when Miss Chalmers gave a display of moygashell and its uses. Mrs Symon and Mrs McGregor, Dufftown entertained the members with solos and Scotch recitations. They were all cordially thanked by Miss Barclay. In a competition for something new from something old the prizes went to - 1st Mrs Lowe, 2nd Mrs Rumbles and 1 point for Mrs Lovie, judged by Miss Chalmers and Mrs Simpson, Grange. The mystery parcel was won by Mrs Ross. Other raffles were won by Mrs Garden, Miss Chalmers and Mrs McDonald. The hostesses for the evening were Mrs Johnston, Mrs Jessiman, Mrs Gordon, Mrs Grant and Mrs Lovie.

July 9th 1949
Members went to Aberdeen for the annual outing, journying by bus by the Glens of Foundland. After having lunch at the Princess Cafe, a most enjoyable afternoon was spent sight seeing and shopping. The home-ward journey being by the Bridge of Alford.

August 10th 1949
Mrs G, Duff welcomed Mady Frances, G. Duff and visitors. Mr Murrey, Kininvie, gave a most interesting talk on bulbs and how to grow them. Mr Murrey and Miss Heyburn, Dufftown judged the competition in Garden and Wild flowers.

 Garden: 1st Mrs Rumbles, 2nd Mrs G. Duff, 3rd Miss Barclay.
Wild: 1st Mrs Murdoch, 2nd Mrs Gordon, 1 point Mrs Lovie.

Mr Fraser, Kininvie, and Miss Heyburn gave fiddle and pionoforte selections. Mr Rae Norton, Maggieknocketer entertained with songs. They were all cordially thanked by Miss Barclay. Raffles were won by Mrs Whyte, Mrs Gordon, Mrs Rumbles and Mrs Lovie. The hostesses for the evening were Miss Johnston, Miss Duff and Miss McWilliam.

September 14th 1949
Mrs Gordon-Duff presided at the monthly meeting. Mrs McPherson, Dufftown gave an excellent demonstration on leatherwork. Showing handbags and wallets one of which she gifted to the Institute. Mrs Reid gave Scotch readings and two young artistes rendered solos. In the competition for Jam. Raspberry, 1st Miss Whyte, 2nd Miss Williams, 3rd Mrs Barclay. Blackcurrant Jam, 1st Mrs Ogston, 2nd Mrs Lovie, 3rd Mrs Lovie. The mystery parcels were won by Miss Murphy, Mrs Smith, Miss Robertson and Mrs Barclay. The hostesses for the evening were Misses Rennie, Law, Morrison, McHardy and Whyte.

October 12th 1949
Mrs Gordon-Duff presided at the monthly meeting when the 20th Birthday was celebrated. Beautifully laid tables were presided over by the committee. A cake with twenty candles was cut and handed round. A delightful programme was given by Mr Murrey and Mr Rodgers, Fordyce. A sketch, 'Vera' by Mrs Dickson, Fordyce, was given by friends from Grange and Fordyce. Miss Barclay thanked the visitors and a short dance followed to music by the Local Band.

November 9th 1949
Mrs Gordon-Duff presided at the monthly meeting. A debate for married and single life was discussed. Mrs McDonald and Miss Barclay led the discussion for the respective sides and members expressed their views. Mr Gordon and Mr McIntosh gave violin and accordian selections and Mrs McDonald gave two solos with Miss Williams accompanying. In the competition for best darn judged by the men the prizes went to, 1st Miss Whyte, 2nd Mrs Sutherland, 3rd Mrs McDonald. The mystery parcels were won by Mrs McDonald, Mrs Gordon, Miss Whyte, Mrs Murdoch and Mrs Smith. The hostesses for the evening were Mrs Murdoch, Mrs Lawe, Mrs McDonald, Miss Morrison and Miss Williams.

December 14th 1949
Xmas Social.

Members and Friends enjoyed a Christmas party, when a Film Show was staged by Mr William Watt, Dufftown. Solos were given by Mrs McDonald and Mrs Fiddes and monologues by Mr Thomson, The Castle. Dancing was enjoyed to music my Messrs Donald and McIntosh with Mr A. Barclay as M.C.

December 25th 1949
Christmas Tree
The children of the members of the W.R.I. were entertained to a Xmas Party in Drummuir Hall. Games were enjoyed and sweets and baloons, tea and cakes were distributed during the afternoon. Gifts from a beautifully decorated Xmas Tree, the gift of Luit-Col Gordon-Duff, were handed to each child by Santa Claus, impersonated by Mr Alex. Barclay. On leaving the children each received an orange, apple, sweets and a threepenny, the gift of Mrs Gordon-Duff.
