DRUMMUIR CASTLE ESTATE FORESTRY
FORESTRY STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL (FSC) CERTIFICATION

The Estate woodlands are independently audited to ensure that their management meets nationally and internationally set forestry standards. The key requirements of these standards are:-

- A signed commitment to the principles of the FSC.

- Continued and consistent monitoring of all forestry work to ensure that as well as producing timber on a sustainable basis the woodlands environmental and conservation benefits.

- A detailed management plan based on sound information is in place. The plan should set out long term objectives and information on how objectives are to be achieved.

The 25 year Forest Plan covering the Estate woodlands details all planned felling, thinning and replanting work. It also details environmental and conservation work in the woodlands.

FSC membership ensures that timber sold to consumers can be traced back to coming from an FSC certified woodland. All timber sold bearing the FSC logo can be traced back to the woodland it originated from.
