I am deeply indebted to the staff of the Registrar's Office, Keith who cheerfully allowed me to spend many hours in their office copying and checking the burial records. Webmaster.

Note: The Burials by Year and Burials by Lair information is from 1899 onwards and was obtained from Moray Council statutory records. However, the graveyard has been in use for much longer than that, as evidenced by the fact that the earliest gravestone is dated 1653. Efforts continue to try to locate pre-1899 records.

Note: Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the data but sometimes the original handwritten documents were very difficult to decipher so if you find that some information doesn't seem to 'add up', please email me at dave.mcwilliam@towienet.co.uk and I'll recheck the originals. Note also that names and spellings have changed over the years and that some dwellings no longer exist. Again, if you want to track down a particular place, drop me an email.

Note: The Gordon-Duff burials are in a private part of the cemetery and are not recorded here.

Notes on Tables:

  1. The Date of Burial is the actual date of interment, which is usually two or three days after the date of death.
  2. The Name column lists the names of those buried in that year.
  3. The Age is the age at death. Where it is shown as 0 it indicates that the baby was stillborn or died shortly after birth.
  4. The Depth of Grave is the depth of the hole into which the coffin was placed.
  5. The Number of Grave gives the number of the Lair in which the burial took place.
